Medical Assistant

Position Summary:
The medical assistant provides patient care under the direction of the RN or LPN. The medical assistant assists with supplies and equipment ordering, and is committed to creating a positive team environment while being a good team member.
Responsibilities:
Escorts patient from processing room to the exam room. Takes a history of visit and chief complaints.
Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, height and weight of all patients, and pulse as indicated. Documents vitals in patients chart in EMR
Translates for the provider as needed, or assists with the language line
Keeps patient flow to the provider constant, attending to the providers needs to assistance and s! upplies as required, as indicated by feedback
Prepares pat! ient exam rooms and assists providers during exams as requested
Maintains log books as designated in each department
Requests referrals and gives patient contact, prescription, x-ray or lab requisitions ensuring process is complete
Provides for patients comfort, safety and hygiene
Performs other related duties as assigned
Education:
Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist program
Registration or Certification as Medical Assistant is required
Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
Computer Skills:
Must be computer literate
Other Qualifications:
At least one year of experience in each of the following disciplines: Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN
Must have effective people skills
Flexible in scheduling to meet the needs of the organization and hours of operation
Rotation of sites and weekend shifts required
