Per diem

ACLS, BLS, PALS
ITLS or PHTLS

Shift varies 7A-7P and 7P-7A

! Summary:
Provides high quality pre-hospital advanced life support including assessment, triage, and treatment utilizing standards and guidelines established by the MICU Medical Director within their scope of practice.. The flight paramedic assesses the nature and extent of illness and injury to establish and prioritize care needed for safe transport of the critical patient to the appropriate facility working in collaboration with their flight nurse partner. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served

Position Responsibilities:
Provides pre-hospital advance life support care from the initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility maintaining through patient care documentation

Accurately and completely documents patient assessment, treatment, response to treatment and transfer of care upon completion of every incident. A! ccurately and efficiently responds to all quality assurance re! quests

Knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies utilized by SouthStar. Responsible for reporting medical equipment failure and taking initial steps to insure repair of equipment as directed. Maintains adequate supplies onboard the aircraft to deliver patient care. Keeps crew quarters and aircraft clean and orderly to insure rapid response to all transport requests

Attends and participates in staff meetings

Participates in continuing education and outreach education programs. Participates regularly in department activities, projects and committees. Participates in department quality improvement activities as assigned

Undertakes and maintains projects as assigned (to include research and publishing opportunities)

Acts as a preceptor and/or participates in orientation of new employees as assigned. Serves as a role model, educator and clinical resource

Position Qualifications Required
Experience Required:
Minimum three years experience as a paramedic

Required Education:
Graduate of a recognized Paramedic Training Program.
Completion of SouthStar Orientation Program

Training/Certifications/Licensure:
Certified as a Flight Paramedic by the Commissioner of Health and Senior Services of the State of New Jersey
Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation ( CPR)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support ( PHTLS)
Pediatric Life Support (PALS)
Must complete yearly PPD, Fit Test, Corporate Compliance, HIPPA and Safety Day training by the date set forth by the department
