Bachelorâs Degree preferred, Associate Degree and 2 years of prior work experience or High School diploma with 5 years prior work experience, with children who have special health care or behavioral needs is required.
Valid New Jersey Commercial Driver License (CDL) and in good standing with the DMV.
Obtain and maintain Certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention from the Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. (CPI) within 90 days of starting work.
All CHOP employees who work in a patient building or who pr! ovide patient care are required to receive an annual influenza! vaccine unless they are granted a medical or religious exemption.
Job Description:
The Children's Intensive Emotional and Behavioral Program (CIEBP) provides comprehensive partial hospital services in a behaviorally based therapeutic setting for children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. Children attend the program daily for either 6 hours per day, 5 days per week or 5 hours per, 4 days a week. The program is open all year. Schools, pediatricians, the mental health community and parents refer the children we serve. Children are referred due to various behavioral, emotional, and social needs that significantly influence their ability to learn and participate constructively in the community. The children come from throughout the South New Jersey geographic region including Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Ocean Counties. We provide a comprehensive evaluation and treatment approach that includes the child, family and the community. Children are placed i! n a developmentally appropriate classroom that becomes the setting for therapeutic interventions. Interventions are designed to assist the child in accessing their social and learning potential so they can be returned to and maintained in the least restrictive home and educational placements.
Assists in providing developmental and therapeutic play and recreation programming for children. With the classroom team, supports the adaptive functioning of the child. Assists in providing structured assessment and behavioral skills training to children. The Clinical Assistant works under the close supervision of the Clinical Specialist and the Operations Manager. Provides safe transport of children to and from the program. Ensures that the bus maintenance and safety are continuously monitored and necessary repairs completed. Purchase and transport of program supplies and equipment as requested. May be requested to assist in providing clerical activities.
