The Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Paramedic provides prehospital advanced life support to victims of sudden illness or injury in the designated service areas of the MICU system, and provides appropriate ! mutual aid assistance when requested by adjacent MICU services. The MICU Paramedic demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all ages, inclusive of neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Additionally, the MICU Paramedic demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to access data reflective of the patient's status, and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient''s requirement relative to his or her age-specific needs. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Must possess a valid driver's license. The employee will be a certified pre-hospital advanced life support provider, as recognized by the New Jersey State Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services. This includes a certified paramedic or recognized mobile intensive care nurse as indicated in N.J.A.C. Chapter 41.
Add! itionally, the employee will maintain current certification in! Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support to the standards of the American Heart Association. Certification in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support is preferred.
