• Responsible for providing direct clinical care for pediatric emergency department patients.!
• Provides direction, leadership, and supervision for fellows, residents, interns, medical students and midlevel practitioners.
• Participates in the delivery of the pediatric emergency medicine curriculum and educational conferences that reflect new leading-edge science, technologies, and pediatric emergency medicine core curriculum knowledge.
• Maintains all academic and clinical performance expectations of attending teaching staff as defined by Department policy.
• Participates in successful strategies for achieving regional and national prominence in pediatric emergency medicine; enhances the successful business management of the Pediatric ED through extramural and intramural grant funding, philanthropy, and new business initiatives; develops research initiatives that enhance public health in our community.
• Supports and complies with the Department’s policies and procedures for compliance and accreditation with all academic and cl! inical State and Federal regulatory agencies such as TJC, NJ D! OH, CMS, EMTALA, ACGME, RRC-EM and the AOA.
• Complies with all rules and regulations, bylaws, and policies of the Department of Emergency Medicine, the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and its Medical Staff, Barnabas Health, and all applicable State, Federal, and regulatory agencies.
• Attends one Department of Emergency Medicine staff meeting and one residency/fellowship academic conference per quarter.

Physician’s performance will be reviewed against the following criteria: 1) Core measure performance at 100%; 2) Completing 100% of charts within 72 hours, reviewed quarterly - for every 5 percentage points below, there will be a reduction in the amount of hours compensated (not to exceed 90 hours per year); 3) Attendance at one Department of Emergency Medicine monthly staff meeting and one residency/fellowship weekly academic conference per quarter.
